Priority will be given to applicants that are either residents of or willing to re-locate to Fort McMurray.
Job Description
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
  • Supporting the Project Managers in all aspects of EH&S
  • Promoting an EH&S culture that reflects Midlite’s goals and objectives and is based on the principle of internal responsibility
  • Ensure EH&S compliance to all Provincial Legislation as well as Site Specific and Client based EH&S requirements.
  • As part of the Midlite Proposal/Bid team, you will be required to draft applicable Project Specific Safe Work Plans, Environmental Management Plans and Land Owner Plans as well as any other project related EH&S deliverables.  
  • Maintain, prepare and submit timely and thorough EH&S deliverables to our owners and clients
  • Maintain and draft monthly reports on Project and Company wide EH&S Metrics
  • Conduct audits as required and add suggestions for betterment where applicable
  • Participate and or review all EH&S incident investigations and submit the preliminary and final reports to the General Manager
  • Develop and deliver EH&S training
  • Mentor and train the Midlite Field EH&S Coordinators
  • Conduct annual performance and monthly progress reviews of your reports and provide updates on each to the General Manager
  • Review and provide feedback on all project EH&S reports i.e. Vertical audits, HIDs, FLRAs, Loss Prevention Observations, Near Misses etc.
  • Deliver Corporate orientations as required
  • Book D&A tests as required
  • Manage all WCB cases
  • Perform other EH&S duties as may be assigned by the EH&S Manager
  • Develop and promulgate Midlite Best Management Practices, Standards and Operating Procedures
  • Maintain all the pre-qualifier sites i.e. ISNetworld, Avetta, CQN and Complyworks etc.
  • Conduct internal COR audits
  • Attend various Midlite and Client/Site EH&S meetings

Job Requirements

  • Post secondary degree or diploma in EH&S or related field
  • CRSP designation or intention to obtain
  • NCSO
  • Minimum 10 years EH&S experience in a management position relating to the construction industry preferably in the Power Line Industry and or the Oil Sands Industry
  • Be willing to travel out of Fort McMurray or out of Province to support Midlite projects
  • Medically and Physically able to perform all duties of the position
  • Ability to pass Drug and Alcohol tests
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Effective ability to work with records management systems
  • Strong presentation/training skills and proficiency in Power Point
  • Strong English written and verbal communication, investigation, organization, analytical, team building and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret, explain and utilize OH&S legislation to ensure compliance and the ability to meet the Firm’s due diligence
  • Ability to enforce EH&S compliance, foster education and diffuse contentious issues while advocating Midlite Construction EH&S goals and objectives
  • Valid Standard First Aid certificate
  • OSSA BSO and or CSTS
  • WHMIS 2015 (next generation)
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (clean abstract is an asset)
